Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel (1805-1847), sister of Felix Mendelssohn, was a virtuoso pianist and a composer of considerable merit who wrote songs, chamber works, and choral works. But her enduring reputation as a composer rests with her piano music. This volume is the first American publication of her important early works reproduced directly from rare first editions. Included are Vier Lieder, Op. 2, Op. 6, and Op. 8; and two selections from 6 Melodies, Op. 4 and Op. 5.
