Rezitativo und turbae de Reinhard Keizer (1674-1739)

Gomme ha añadido pasajes Gomme ha añadido pasajes de la composición de la Pasión de Reinhard Keiser (una composición muy apreciada por Bach, que la interpretó varias veces), permitiendo así interpretar íntegramente esta obra perdida. Un prefacio detallado (alemán/inglés) arroja más luz sobre esta reconstrucción única.

Con el fin de ajustar la polifonía a las posibilidades de la guitarra, a menudo me he visto obligado a suprimir algunas notas de los acordes. En estos casos, siempre he seguido el criterio de respetar las notas más significativas de cada armonía para preservar su solidez, color y función tonal. Las supresiones mas frecuentes han sido las octavas de refuerzo y ocasionalmente algunas sextas o séptimas. En alguna ocasión he tenido que modificar la figuración del bajo o el diseño de algunos arpegios y, en aquellos «lieder» cuya escritura pianística superaba claramente las posibilidades guitarrísticas (por ejemplo en las canciones «Die böse Farbe» de Die schöne Müllerin o «Erstarrung» de Winterreise), he sustituido ciertas texturas por otras que, siendo asumibles por la guitarra, fueran lo mas cercanas posible a las schubertianas tanto en su diseño como en su resultado musical. También he evitado utilizar recursos técnicos de carácter folclorizante (especialmente cierto tipo de «rasgueados»), tan frecuentes en la escritura guitarrística, pero absolutamente alejados de la estética de esta música.

Esta transcripción permite interpretar todas las canciones de ambos ciclos en sus tonalidades originales. Dado que algunas son poco favorables a la expresión polifónica de la guitarra he optado por transportarlas a tonalidades guitarrísticas y, desde ellas, recuperar las tonalidades originales mediante el uso de la cejilla mecánica [Ct]. En ningún caso he optado por la modificación de la afinación convencional de la guitarra (Mi, Si, Sol, Re, La, Mi) ya que el tiempo requerido para efectuar dicha modificación -entre canción y canción- rompería la atmósfera de continuidad que requiere la interpretación completa del ciclo y, además, puesto que la cuerda o cuerdas afectadas tienden a reajustar su tensión incluso después de haberse iniciado la nueva canción, nos encontraríamos con que la afinación sería defectuosa a los pocos compases. Las dinámicas reflejadas en la partitura también son las que aparecen en la versión original. Pienso que dada la similitud sonora entre la guitarra y el piano-forte de Schubert, pueden muy bien usarse como fiel punto de referencia de las dinámicas de la guitarra, teniendo en cuenta que cuanto mejor sea la técnica del guitarrista mejor será el margen de intensidad entre su pp y su ff y, consecuentemente, mas ricos serán sus matices intermedios.

Por último quiero añadir que he tratado de conseguir una versión para guitarra absolutamente operativa. Para ello me ha servido mi larga experiencia como concertista. Dicha experiencia me ha proporcionado la capacidad de discernir sobre la eficacia o no de los distintos patrones de la técnica guitarrística en función de los parámetros musicales que coinciden con ellos. Si bien el nivel de dificultad que poseen las canciones solo se puede abordar desde la posesión de una técnica muy bien desarrollada, todos los pasajes de la guitarra están pensados para obtener una ejecución respetuosa con los parámetros de velocidad, ductilidad, intensidad sonora y agógica que exige una interpretación del más alto nivel artístico.
