«El Mesías» ocupa una posición única en la obra de Handel. Su carácter fuertemente universal y su franqueza de expresión, que atrae a hombres de todos los credos, la convierten en la obra más reconocida de toda la monumental producción del compositor.

Pasión, cantata, ópera, música instrumental, es decir, todos los géneros musicales importantes de la época, formaron la base del nuevo arte de Handel, que se desarrolló con un ímpetu cada vez mayor a partir de finales de 1738 y encontró una realización particularmente compleja. en “Mesías“.

A menudo se dice que Handel compuso “Messiah” para su visita a Irlanda, donde había sido invitado por el Lord Teniente William Cavendish, duque de Devonshire, a interpretar su música con fines benéficos. La edición publicada por Bärenreiter en 1955 solo podía basarse esencialmente en las piezas publicadas por la editorial Chrysander desde 1858. Mientras tanto, las sonatas para flauta han sido revisadas en la “Edición Halle Handel”, teniendo en cuenta todas las fuentes disponibles.

    Esta edición única aparece como parte de una serie de obras populares del catálogo Bärenreiter para celebrar el centenario de la editorial. Representa un extracto de la antología «Once sonatas para flauta y bajo continuo» (BA04225). Esto reproduce el Urtext de la “Edición Halle Handel”. La Sonata en Do mayor HWV 365 comprende cinco movimientos (1. Larghetto, 2. Allegro, 3. Larghetto, 4. A tempo di Gavotta, 5. Allegro). Goza de gran popularidad y, aunque en las fuentes se designa como sonata para flauta dulce, también se toca con flauta.
